B-b-b-bird bird bird, bird is the word.

“Stuffing” is the other word.

And why not? It’s what’s on the inside that counts right?

Year after year stuffing takes a backseat to turkey and it’s getting sick and tired of it.

Stuffing is consistently the other recipe most searched online by American families preparing to overindulge on Thanksgiving Day with turkey, gravy, yams, green beans, pumpkin pie, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, Waldorf salad, scalloped potatoes, sweet potatoes, cornbread, squash, deviled eggs, baked macaroni and cheese, applesauce, roasted vegetables, pudding, creamed spinach, MASHED POTATOES!!!

But without the stuffing, all the rest is nothing.

I’m not bluffing.

The fortuitous nature of the holiday combined with the infinite possibilities for mixing bread with other things sends people on a stuffing crazed frenzy this time of year.

The only state that can trump stuffing on Google searches is North Carolina. They’re a little bit different and that’s okay.

North Carolina has an infatuation with sweet potatoes, so much so that they actually have a website dedicated to their cherished vegetable and seemingly get offended if you make the common mistake of confusing sweet potatoes with yams.

Old Tom Turkey dominates recipes as always, but also comes into play when domestically challenged people like myself are searching online for ways to cook a bird without having it explode in the oven, or making your mouth so dry that you try to quench your thirst with cabernet.

For the truly hopeless, I highly recommend Mary Risley’s instructional turkey cooking video on Youtube.

Whether you’re in the kitchen or pushing content on Thanksgiving Day you’re going to need your three staples - turkey, stuffing and gravy - if you want to attract guests.

Black Friday is also a big deal for online searches, probably because you’re not going to fit in your clothes anymore. And that’s okay too.

Enjoy getting fat for the winter, embracing the warmth of family and friends and lavish yourself in the luxury of living.
